Loi-cadre n° 99-12 portant Charte nationale de l'environnement et du développement durable + Loi n° 49-17 relative à l'évaluation environnementale
Environmental acceptability is a licence to operate for Moroccan industrials - and a screenable liability for their shareholders.

Environmental pillar. The 99-12 framework law sets the national environmental and sustainable-development charter. Loi 49-17 (Dahir 1-20-78 of 8 August 2020, published in French in BO n°7140 of 3 November 2022) replaces the former loi 12-03 regime and governs environmental assessment: strategic environmental assessment, environmental impact studies (EIE) and the 'décision d'acceptabilité environnementale' required before authorising listed projects, with filing routed through the Regional Investment Centres (CRI) for single-region projects. Directly relevant when screening listed industrials, mining, energy, cement, agri-food and infrastructure names for environmental liability.
