Morocco Hosts Francophone Peacekeeping Conference

Morocco is hosting the second Francophone Peacekeeping Ministerial Conference, co-chaired by Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita and his French counterpart Jean-Noël Barrot.

The conference, organized in partnership with the United Nations and the International Organization of the Francophonie, brings together 54 delegations, including 25 represented at the ministerial level, as well as high-ranking UN officials, OIF representatives, regional organizations, and civilian and military experts in peacekeeping.

This edition takes place in a pivotal context, marked by the evolution of UN peacekeeping operations and ongoing reforms within the UN on peacekeeping architecture.

The conference aims to provide Francophone countries with an opportunity to gain a common understanding of the current challenges in the operations in which they are engaged.

The event's hosting in Morocco reflects the kingdom's pioneering and constant contribution to peacekeeping operations worldwide, as well as its reputation as a trusted and credible actor within international institutions.

This second edition follows the first Francophone Peacekeeping Ministerial Conference held in Paris in 2016.
