Guinea-Bissau reaffirmed its firm and consistent position on Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara region, during a meeting between the country's foreign minister, João Bernardo Vieira, and his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita.

In a statement to the press following the meeting, Vieira reiterated his country's unwavering support for Morocco's territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire territory, including the Sahara region, considering the Moroccan autonomy initiative as the only credible and realistic solution to the regional dispute.

The adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2797 on October 31, 2025, which recognizes the Moroccan autonomy plan as the sole basis for a durable and credible solution to the Sahara dispute, was also welcomed by Vieira.

This development is significant for the Moroccan market today, as it underscores the international community's recognition of Morocco's sovereignty over its territory, including the Sahara region, and reinforces the country's position in the region.

The move is also expected to have a positive impact on Morocco's economic and investment prospects, as it enhances the country's stability and attractiveness to foreign investors.
