Moroccan Security Chief Abdellatif Hammouchi visited Vienna from May 5 to 7, 2026, to head a significant security delegation representing the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and the General Directorate of Territorial Surveillance (DGST).

The visit included activities related to participation in consultations and multilateral cooperation meetings in the security and intelligence fields, organized by specialized UN offices, as well as a component dedicated to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Austrian security and intelligence officials.

On a multilateral level, this trip is part of Morocco's participation in the 23rd regional meeting of intelligence and security chiefs, organized by the UN in Vienna, aiming to coordinate regional efforts to counter terrorist threats.

Morocco participated in this meeting alongside security and intelligence officials from the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Iraq, Libya, Oman, Tunisia, Sudan, Turkey, and Pakistan.

During the meeting, Abdellatif Hammouchi presented Morocco's integrated and multidimensional security services model in combating terrorism and extremism.

He also shared the current mapping of terrorist threats in several areas of tension around the world.

He further shared with participating delegations the challenges related to terrorist threats and means to address them within a collective and concerted approach.

During his stay in the Austrian capital, Abdellatif Hammouchi held meetings with his Austrian counterpart Sylvia Mayer, Director of State Security and Intelligence, focusing on strengthening and developing the security partnership between Moroccan and Austrian services to improve joint cooperation mechanisms in various security and intelligence fields.

The two officials also discussed common interests, including migration, transnational crime, human trafficking, terrorism, extremism, money laundering, and arms and drug trafficking, as well as information exchange on internationally wanted individuals.

The Austrian official praised the significant intelligence support provided by the DGST, which contributed to thwarting dangerous terrorist projects and apprehending extremists on Austrian soil.

She also expressed her desire to benefit from Morocco's experience in combating terrorism and organized crime, highlighting that the Kingdom is a secure and stable country.

In the context of bilateral cooperation, the Moroccan delegation also held other meetings with representatives of security and intelligence services from Pakistan, Turkey, Iraq, and Oman, during which they examined means to strengthen security and intelligence cooperation with these friendly countries.

This visit once again confirms Morocco's prominent role and active position in the field of international security cooperation.
