National Security: Abdellatif Hammouchi Visits Vienna with a High-Level Security Delegation

Abdellatif Hammouchi, the Director General of the National Security and Surveillance of the Territory, visited Vienna, Austria from May 5 to 7, 2026, leading a high-level security delegation representing the Pole of the General Directorate of National Security (DGSN) and the General Directorate of Surveillance of the Territory (DGST).
The visit included activities related to participation in consultations and multilateral cooperation meetings in the fields of security and intelligence, organized by specialized offices under the United Nations, as well as a component dedicated to strengthening bilateral cooperation with Austrian security and intelligence officials.
This visit is part of the country's participation in the 23rd regional meeting of intelligence and security chiefs, organized by the United Nations at the International Centre in Vienna, aiming to coordinate regional efforts to counter threats from terrorist organizations.
Morocco is participating in this meeting alongside security and intelligence officials from the United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Iraq, Libya, Oman, Tunisia, Sudan, Turkey, and Pakistan.
During the meeting, Abdellatif Hammouchi presented the Moroccan integrated and multidimensional model of security services in the fight against terrorism and extremism.
He also presented the current mapping of terrorist threat ramifications in several areas of tension around the world.
He shared with the delegations participating in the meeting the challenges related to terrorist threats and the means to address them within a collective and concerted approach.
During his stay in the Austrian capital, Abdellatif Hammouchi had meetings with his Austrian counterpart, Sylvia Mayer, Director of State Security and Intelligence, focused on strengthening and developing the security partnership between Moroccan and Austrian services, with the aim of improving joint cooperation mechanisms in various areas of security and intelligence action in the face of common threats and challenges.
The two officials also discussed common interests, including files related to migration, cross-border crime, human trafficking, the fight against terrorism, extremism in all its forms, money laundering, and the trafficking of arms and narcotics, as well as the exchange of information on individuals sought internationally.
The Austrian official praised the significant support provided by the DGST in the field of intelligence, which contributed to thwarting dangerous terrorist projects and apprehending extremists on Austrian soil.
She also expressed her desire to benefit from Moroccan experience in the fight against terrorism and organized crime, highlighting that the Kingdom is a safe country, enjoying security and stability.
In the framework of bilateral cooperation, the Moroccan delegation also held other meetings with representatives of security and intelligence services from Pakistan, Turkey, Iraq, and Oman, during which the means to strengthen security and intelligence cooperation with these friendly countries were examined.
