Morocco's Ambassador to the US, Youssef Amrani, met with Andrew Giuliani, the executive director of the White House task force for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, to strengthen coordination and cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting highlights the strong interest in cooperation and the historical friendship between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States.
Amrani was mandated by President Donald Trump to lead the organization of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, which will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026, in the US, Mexico, and Canada.
The event is expected to attract millions of spectators from around the world, including fans of the Atlas Lions.
The strategic exchange with Morocco is a priority and a unifying commitment for the American official.
Morocco is the first country to have recognized the independence of the United States and is also set to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal, taking over from the 2026 edition.
Giuliani expressed his admiration for the Moroccan model, which has been successful in promoting football globally, and praised the country's infrastructure.
The meeting also highlighted the strong commitment of the US authorities to collaborate closely with Morocco to make the 2026 and 2030 events "two great successes" that will reinforce the exemplary nature of the bilateral alliance.
The talks were also attended by Simon Bland, the director of international affairs at the US Department of Homeland Security.
The US has committed to coordinating, collaborating, and building efficient operational approaches with Morocco to benefit from each other's experiences.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup is expected to attract a spectacular crowd, with 5 million tickets already sold and over 500 million requests for tickets since the launch of the first phase of sales by FIFA in January 2026.
For his part, Amrani emphasized that the event represents a "window of opportunity" for the vitality, depth, and determination of an alliance and friendship between Morocco and the United States.
He noted that the joy of hosting the 2030 FIFA World Cup is even greater as Morocco will take over from the 2026 edition organized by its American partners, coinciding with the 250th anniversary of bilateral relations.
Morocco continues to build a beautiful history, crossing the paths of two allies linked by time and heart, in football and diplomacy, as the first country to recognize the independence of the United States.
