The US Consulate General in Casablanca inaugurated its new complex in the Casablanca Finance City (CFC) district on Thursday, April 30, in a grand ceremony attended by high-ranking Moroccan and American officials.

The inauguration ceremony featured a strong presence from the Moroccan side, including the Counselor to the King, Fouad Ali El Himma, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad, Nasser Bourita, the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Employment, and Skills, Younes Sekkouri, and the Inspector General of the Royal Armed Forces, Commander of the Southern Zone, General Mohamed Berrid.

Other notable attendees included the Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region, Governor of the Casablanca Prefecture, Mohamed M'hidia, the President of the Casablanca-Settat Regional Council, Abdellatif Maâzouz, and the President of the Casablanca Municipal Council, Nabila Rmili.

On the American side, the ceremony was attended by the Deputy Secretary of State of the United States, Christopher Landau, who was on a working visit to the Kingdom, the US Ambassador to Morocco, Duke Buchan III, and the US Consul General in Casablanca, Marissa Scott.

Speaking on the occasion, Landau emphasized that the new consulate would remain a permanent symbol of the enduring ties between the United States and Morocco. "I couldn't be happier and prouder to inaugurate this new complex.

It's a magnificent representation of the friendship between our two countries," he said, highlighting the many advantages of Morocco, as well as the development the Kingdom has undergone in various fields and its attractiveness to foreign investors.

He assured that the United States is pleased to continue working alongside the Kingdom to strengthen the ties between the two countries in various fields.

"It's very exciting to see how Morocco is developing under the leadership of King Mohammed VI," he said, noting that the United States is proud to stand alongside Morocco as a partner and ally.

Buchan III stated that the new consulate represents a durable symbol of nearly 250 years of friendship between the United States and the Kingdom. "Morocco is a friend of the United States, an ally, and a partner.

It is our oldest, most solid, and most reliable ally in the region," he said.

Reiterating his country's support for Morocco's sovereignty over its Sahara, he emphasized that "it is high time to achieve a peaceful solution" to this conflict.

He assured that "the path to peace is clear: Morocco's autonomy proposal is the only solution".

The American diplomat noted that in an unstable and uncertain world, Morocco stands out as a pillar of stability, reliability, and engagement in numerous reforms.

This progress is the result of King Mohammed VI's leadership, he insisted, pointing out that Morocco has "become, rightfully, a center of investment, innovation, and opportunities".

For her part, the US Consul General in Casablanca, Marissa Scott, stated in a statement to the MAP that the inauguration of this new consulate marks in the most beautiful way the celebration of the 250th anniversary of the exemplary relations between Morocco and the United States.

"This new building is ten times larger than our old headquarters," she said, adding that it represents ten times more opportunities, ten times more people who can be present here, and more people who can attend and assist.

The new US Consulate in Casablanca reflects the enduring bonds of friendship between Morocco and the United States.

With a surface area of nearly 2.7 hectares, this complex, which combines modern architecture and innovative design, will serve as a symbol of the strong ties between the two countries and will provide a wide range of services to the Moroccan and American communities.
